A fragrance can speak a thousand words. Whether it’s the smell of your favorite restaurant or the stench of the New York subways, a fragrance can tell a story or recollect a memory in an instant. For Natasha and Courtney Wagner, the smell of gardenia always reminded them of their late mother Natalie Wood, famous actress for her performances in Rebel Without a Cause and West Side Story. After receiving a bottle of gardenia-scented perfume from a co star, it became Natalie’s signature scent. She even transitioned from the artificial perfume to wearing pure gardenia oil transported from Egypt. Her signature scent brought back private moments, laugh and hugs from her mom, said Natasha. So in honor of carrying on her mother’s legacy, Natasha and Courtney Wagner worked with Claude Dir, master perfumer, to bring Natalie’s essence back to life.
The new scent “Natalie” is meant to harmoniously collaborate old Hollywood glam with modern day beauty. The fragrance features hints of orange flower, freesia, vanilla and of course gardenia. Additionally, Natasha and Courtney partnered with CoachArt, an organization that teaches art and athletics to chronically ill children, to give this fragrance a deeper meaning and a way to give back to a cause that was near and dear to their mother’s heart. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to CoachArt.
